Rainy weather is awfully good weather to lie in bed and sleep and never wake up. Unfortunately, there was that obtrusive half-marathon today which started so early, the first train didn’t even reach the place in time.

We reached and started about 45 minutes later than the start time which isn’t too bad because that meant we weren’t blocked by mud-slinging people in the first few km of the run. The crowds got pretty bad at about the 7km mark when I caught up with a wave of people.

I tried to keep a pace of 1km per 6 minutes but I kinda screwed up a lot after the first 3 km so I finished the first 10km in about 1:10 or so. At about 14km, the run was pretty much all about dodging people while avoiding the mud paths. Not very fun, really. My watch clocked 2:23 at the end of the race. I should finish in about 2:15 though. The pace felt quite comfortable and apart from sore joints at the end of it all, breathing wasn’t an issue at all. I *think* I can keep the pace through a marathon which means about a 5 hour finish.

We’ll see how things go during that 30km run in November where it’d be demoralising once again because only crazy people join it and I’ll end up being the last runner or something.
